This chapter analyzes significant advantages of using of Baltic states, especially Latvia, as intermediary site (warehousing, transit and many other). Also the advantages become more serious as Latvia is a part of EU from 2004.

That means that Latvian-Russian border will become the border of EU, subsequently there will be only ONE border between Europe and CIS. Besides this there are some advantages more:

  • Over its whole history Latvia always used to be the one of leading countries involved moving cargoes to customers;

  • Over last 60 years of soviet time the transit infrastructure had been developed very strong, including: not-freezing ports like Riga, Ventspils, Liepaja; stevedoring structures, warehouse structures, strong customs services (as in the former Soviet Union all of Latvian ports were considered as "the gate to the west"), railway base and strong automotive base (previously SOVTRANSAVTO, LATINTERAVTO);

  • Direct railway connection through the all CIS countries to the Far East (permanent gauge has the same width as all CIS countries, that allows serious transport costs reduce);

  • Russian language skills;

  • Possibility to store the goods in the customs zones and free zones to fulfill different customs procedures, selling, re-packing, etc.;

  • Short transit time from Latvia to CIS countries, as well as to Europe (for export from Russia and Central Asia);

  • The best place to have a stock - a part of EU, one border with CIS, European-level customs legislation.

3. Chartering & Sea transportation

  • Delivery of cargoes in 20' dry, 40' dry, 40' dry HC, 20' reefer and 40' reefer containers worldwide on "door-to-door" basis, using own containers and railway platforms for project cargoes;

  • Suggestion of the most convenient port for cargo processing;

  •  Due affirmation of cargo delivery to the port with respective authorities, including shipping of oversized and heavy-lifts cargoes, including those presenting any degree of danger.

4. Cargo delivery by railway transport

As a daughter company of "Agentstvo REFPEREVOZKI" Ltd and, thus, operating directly on Latvian Railway, Russian railway and with the largest railway forwarding agents in CIS, Central Asia and Europe, BRONDEX provides the following services:

  • Organizing of cargo delivery by railway transport, both in Baltic, CIS and in the foreign countries, connected to CIS by the railway (European countries - Germany, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Romania, Greece, France, Italy, etc.);

  • Delivery using own railway platforms, reefer sections, thermo wagons and containers;

  • Organizing of cargo handling at boundary transitions and changing from broad to narrow gauge;

  • Monitoring of cargo shipping using company computer network having a direct connection to the Railway computer center;

  • Cargo insurance on behalf of the Customer against all risks during transportation to the benefit of the Customer;

  • Organizing of cargo escorting and armed security through out all transit territories;

  • On behalf of the Customer BRONDEX provides searching and renting special carriages, like high cube wagons (upto 250 m3), etc.
